How ISLNDZ and the Cape Verdean Football Federation (FCF) United to Enhance National Pride and Global Recognition

Cape Verde’s national football team is something we are very proud of. As lifelong football fans, ISLNDZ jumped at the opportunity to create a line that reflected Capeverdean culture and pride, worn by our standout players like Logan Costa, Kenny Rocha, Patrick Andrade, Ryan Mendes, and Tiago Correia (Bebé), at prestigious competitions like the African Cup of Nations (CAF). 

This line was created thinking not only about our dedicated players as a way to wear the country on their chests once they step out of the official game uniforms they wear on the field but also about the enthusiastic crowds cheering from the sidelines.

THE COLLABORATION

When collaborating with the Cape Verdean Football Federation (FCF), ISLNDZ mission was to strengthen our shared cultural and community goals. As a clothing brand dedicated to expressing the Cape Verdean lifestyle through clothing and creative experiences, we saw an opportunity to support our national team and youth development through this partnership. This collaboration aligns with our mission to celebrate and promote Cape Verdean culture globally.

Tubaron Azul and Its Significance 

The "Tubaron Azul" (Blue Shark) isn’t just a mascot – it’s a symbol of pride in Cape Verdean football. The blue shark nickname representing the national team's stands for strength, agility, and resilience – traits our team and supporters embody daily. There is even a song by Ferro Gaita about it that people dance and sing to every time our team has a game (listen to it here).

The Values That The New Logo Represent

When we collaborated with the Cape Verdean Football Federation (FCF) to create the new logo, we drew direct inspiration from this symbol. The redesigned logo features a blue shark prominently, integrating it with other elements such as the country's flag and ten golden stars that represent the ten islands of Cape Verde. This combination not only reinforces national pride but also connects the team's identity with the country's maritime heritage and the nickname of the national team.

You might be wondering: “But how did ISLNDZ get to partner with FCF for a line of this caliber?”

Well, here is how it took place:

THE PARTNERSHIP

It All Started On Instagram

We started by showing the new logo of our national football team on Instagram and asking for suggestions. We had really good feedback on the new design that encouraged us to create a proposal for FCF. They loved the new design, and that’s where we started this huge and great partnership.

ISLNDZ Role and Contribution

Primarily, ISLNDZ was instrumental in designing the new logo for the federation, which reflects a modernized and unified brand identity. This rebranding effort was pivotal in symbolizing the federation’s growth and ambitions, aligning with international standards, and enhancing its visual appeal to fans and stakeholders globally.

What’s Next for ISLNDZ x FCF

We are very happy to collaborate with FCF and we are currently working on a lot of projects that we’re sure our people would love to see. We have great projects and surprises coming up in the near future.

This opportunity was a joyful and exciting experience for us at ISLNDZ! Nothing beats seeing our community proudly representing the ten little islands we call home, by wearing the ISLNDZ x FCF line. It has been a wild ride spotting our brand at world-stage games such as CAN worn by proud Capeverdean football fans coming from all over the world to watch our team make history in the quarter of finals at the stadium, at home alone or in groups wherever they are.
